Eligibility Non-profit or for-profit organizations in the US, its possessions or territories. Foreign institutions can apply if the foregoing requirement is waived in writing by NCI.
Pre/Postdoc students receiving compensation – not per diem living expenses – must meet US citizenship requirements outlined by the NRSA program.

Program Income Additional Cost Alternative 
Purpose of Grant Curriculum-driven program to develop and sustain innovative, unique educational approaches that will have an impact on reducing cancer incidence, mortality, and morbidity, and improve the quality of life of cancer patients. The program objectives include short courses, seminars and hands-on experiences for continuing education, structured short-term research experiences and comprehensive, integrated curriculum and professional education programs within and between academic institutions. The programs are designed for health care professionals, biomedical researchers and the lay community before, during and after completion of a doctoral level degree. Programs address needs that are not fulfilled adequately by other grant mechanisms available at NIH and are dedicated to areas of particular concern to NCI.

Salary/Stipend Range  Salaries should not exceed levels commensurate with institution’s policy for similar positions. Pre/Postdoctoral cancer prevention student compensation should be consistent with authorized NRSA levels. Higher levels must be justified at the time of application; salaries cannot be lower than NRSA levels. Salaries paid at NRSA levels will be adjusted in non-competing years if NRSA levels change. 
Sponsor-Mentor N/A for PI but particular programs may involve mentors for program participants. Salaries cannot be paid to mentors.
