Dr. John Holaday is the co-founder and Chairman of HarVest Bank of Maryland. He is the founder of EntreMed, Inc. and served as its Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director until his retirement in 2003. EntreMed, (ENMD, NASDAQ) is a pioneering antiangiogenesis company that emphasizes therapeutics to inhibit blood vessel growth in cancer, blindness and heart disease. Dr. Holaday is also the co-founder of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. (MRX, NYSE) where he served as the SVP for R&D and Member of the Board of Directors. He also founded MaxCyte, Inc. where he served as Chairman, and as a member of the Board of Directors of CytImmune Sciences, BSI Proteomics, Rexahn and LabBook. He has raised over $300M in private and public rounds of financing for these companies that have a collective market capitalization in excess of $3B US. Dr. Holaday served as a Captain in the US Army, and chaired the Neuropharmacology Branch at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research as an officer and civilian for 21 years. Dr. Holaday obtained his BS (1966) and MS (1968) from the University of Alabama, and his PhD degree with honors from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1976. He is Visiting Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Holaday served as the Chairman of the Maryland Bioscience Alliance until 2004. He has received numerous honors and awards. He holds over 30 U.S. and foreign patents and has published over 200 scientific articles and reviews, and edited five books.
