Mark Nuell is a patent attorney; a junior partner at the intellectual property law firm of Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP, located in Falls Church, Virginia. He joined the firm after post-doctoral work in the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics at the National Institute on Aging. He has Ph.D. in molecular biology and biochemistry from the University of Illinois and a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan.

His legal practice focuses on obtaining patent rights on behalf of his clients in the fields of molecular biology, pharmaceutical chemistry and materials science. His work includes client counseling with respect to strategy for development of intellectual property strategy, freedom to operate, licensing, and the like.
