Abstract Preparation and Formatting

Deadline for abstracts extended to March 5, 2003
  1. Please email your abstract as a PC formatted Word or WordPerfect document with 2" margins (left, right, bottom and top) on a single 8 ½" X 11" page.

  2. Type abstract using single spacing.

  3. Use Times New Roman type style with a 12 point font size.

  4. Include the following information at the top of your abstract in the following sequence: title (uppercase letters), names of authors with the name of presenter underlined, and affiliation of authors. Use the following author/affiliation format:

    John Doe1 , Mary Smith2, Peter Jones3. 1National Cancer Institute, 2Channing Laboratory, Harvard University and 3University of California, San Francisco.

  5. Your abstract should provide clear data and validated conclusions. It should consist of an introduction that presents the background of the study, a brief description of the methods employed, a summary of the results and a statement of the conclusions.

  6. Do not include references or illustrations. A brief table, if typed within the abstract, is permitted. Abbreviations and acronyms other than HIV, AIDS and other well-known AIDS terminology used in the abstract must be fully defined at the first mention.

  7. Please provide the following information in the body of your email:

    Department
    Affiliation
    Mailing address
    Telephone

    Email

  8. Submit your abstract via email to jquinn@mail.nih.gov by February 17, 2003.
