Nicholas C. Popescu, Ph.D.

A cytogeneticist and cell biologist conducting research in cancer molecular cytogenetics, Dr. Popescu received his Ph.D. from the University of Bucharest, Romania. He was Chief of the Laboratory of Biology at the Oncological Institute in Bucharest when, in 1971, he joined the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Popescu has authored and coauthored 132 research articles and collaborated with more than 70 scientists from the United States, Europe, and Japan. In 1993 he received the National Institute of Health's Merit Award.
