A Radiation Emergency is the accidental overexposure of any person to radiation from either radioactive materials or from radiation generators such as x-ray machines, or the accidental spilling of radioactive material onto people, floors, etc.
What to do: confine the contamination using absorbent mateial to keep it from spreading. Remove contaminated clothes and shoes before going to a clean area. Wash any body parts which have come into contact with radioactive material. Call the numbers above. If a patient is involved, also call the physician in charge, then the Chief of Nursing Service or the Nursing Supervisor.
