Office of Science Planning and Assessment

The Office of Science Planning and Assessment is responsible for bringing the NCI strategic priority areas, identified in the bypass budget as "extraordinary opportunities for investment," to realistic plans for new research activities, infrastructures, or resources to facilitate progress in cancer research, and for conducting special scientific planning and implementation projects for the NCI Director.   • Organize a scientific meeting, series of teleconferences, or an interactive web-based discussion to develop and/or refine a set of recommendations developed by an ad hoc working group.
  • Participate in transdivisional NCI or trans-Institute NIH implementation activities.
  • Take the lead in broader analytic projects designed to track and assess the outcomes of the working group discussions.
