NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE

WORKING GROUP MEETING ON ANALYTIC TOOLS

Toward a Molecular Classification of Tumors
April 27-28, 2000

CHARGE TO THE WORKING GROUP
High throughput approaches to the examination of molecular expression profiles require the development, evaluation, refinement, and export of analytic tools. Dr. Richard Klausner, Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), convened an ad hoc working group associated with the Director's Challenge to define the needs and challenges associated with: 1) the development and refinement of exportable analytic tools for the analysis of gene expression data, and 2) the development of standards for the electronic exchange of data, and to proposes strategies for their resolution. The immediate goal is to develop specific recommendations that will enable researchers associated with the Director's Challenge, and ultimately, these actions should serve the broader cancer research community.

SESSION I: EXPERIMENTAL PLATFORMS
